Arkansas has been ranked among the top 20 states in the nation to spot a UFO. According to social casino website McLuck, Arkansas is the 16th best state to spot a UFO, with 17.29 sightings per 1 million residents each year. Perhaps the most famous UFO sighting in the Natural State was the airship sightings of 1897. There were a number of reported UFO sightings across the country during the fall and winter of 1896 and 1897. The Arkansas event occurred on May 6, 1897, in the Ouachita Mountains near Hot Springs when a number of residents reported seeing an illuminated object that was cigar-shaped and about 60 feet long. According to the study, Vermont is the best state for a UFO sighting, with 33 sightings per 1 million residents each year. Rounding out the top five are New Hampshire, Idaho, Maine, and Oregon.
