As a result, the belief that extraterrestrial activity takes place in the vast waters is nothing new, but now, new sightings suggest these speculations might be a dangerous reality. Thousands of sightings of Unidentified Submersible Objects (USOs) have been recorded by Enigma, a popular UFO-reporting app. The worrying observations have consequently sparked worries of invasion, with senior US Navy officials warning there may threats to national security. As of August, Enigma has recorded over 9,000 unexplained sightings occurring within 10 miles of US coastlines or major bodies of water, 500 of which were within just five miles. View 4 Images Thousands of sightings of Unidentified Submersible Objects (USOs) have been recorded by Enigma(Image: Enigma) More than 150 reports described objects either hovering above or entering the water, the New York Post reported. California, with 389 reports, and Florida, with 306, topped the list of states with the most USO sightings, both ranking among the three states with the longest ocean coastlines. Among the most unusual incidents is a phone camera video reportedly capturing mysterious green lights moving beneath the ocean’s surface. The app has also published maps showing clusters of reported sightings, marked as orange dots stretching along both the east and west coasts. Enigma, which describes itself as the “largest queryable historical sighting database for global UFO sightings,” says it has collected reports of more than 30,000 Unidentified Flying Objects and Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) since its launch in late 2022. UAPs are observations of events or objects in the air, sea, or space that cannot be immediately identified as conventional aircraft or natural phenomena. However, these sightings are not confined to the skies. As showcased by the recent observations shared on Enigma, there are also many accounts of mysterious objects emerging from the ocean depths or diving into the water “without so much as a splash”. Concerns were sparked in July 2019 when the USS Omaha documented a UFO/UAP that disappeared into the ocean without a trace after flying near a Navy fleet off the coast of San Diego. This incident was just one of several unexplained encounters reported during that period, as US Navy vessels, including the USS Omaha, were reportedly encircled by up to 100 UFOs over a one-month span, according to a filmmaker who has unveiled several astonishing videos of the enigmatic crafts. This followed a video of a spherical craft vanishing into the ocean near the same US Navy ship. Corbell had also released footage of pyramid-shaped UFOs swarming the guided missile destroyer USS Russell during the same period in summer 2019. Despite the numerous releases, there is a general consensus that this was just the tip of the iceberg, amid the release of the Pentagon UFO report. Speaking to Daily Star , Corbell revealed that dozens of unidentified objects swarmed nine warships within a 100-mile radius in July 2019. He said: "It was reported to me that there were 50 to 100 unidentified that were swarming many of the ships. One was hovering above, optically the same as the others. "But it was stationary above each ship that was experiencing this and then there were a number of other UFOs performing figures of eights and circles swarming around these ships.” UFO sightings are nothing new, and are often dismissed as nonsense by much of the scientific community or relegated to the realm of science fiction. However, retired Navy Rear Admiral Tim Gallaudet warned that UFOs capable of seamlessly transitioning from air to sea could have “world-changing” implications, The Post reported. He wrote in a report last year: “The fact that unidentified objects with unexplainable characteristics are entering US water space and the DOD is not raising a giant red flag is a sign that the government is not sharing all it knows about all-domain anomalous phenomena.” The DOD is the Department of Defense, the federal agency responsible for national security and the US military, Article continues below For the latest breaking news and stories from across the globe from the Daily Star, sign up for our newsletters .
