The North Herefordshire town of Leominster has been ranked seventh out of ten hotspots for unidentified flying objects in the UK, based on per capita data. To identify the hotspots, user-reported sighting data from the National UFO Reporting Centre (NUFORC), the Enigma app, which alerts users to recent sightings, and the UFO Identified Group were collated. In Leominster, 58.5 reports were listed, which followed closely behind Preston in Lancashire with 60.2. According to NUFORC, an orb-shaped object, described as a "swirl", was spotted moving across the sky in Leominster in March of this year. In June 2023, a spotter had reported a "diamond shape" which hovered across the sky before it "zoomed across". In January, a mystery green flying object was spotted in the Herefordshire skies overnight, leaving locals perplexed. The "large green 'shooting star'" was seen to break into pieces, according to one local writing on Facebook, who said they had "never seen anything like it before in my life". At the time, a Quadrantid meteor shower was visible across the UK, though the meteors are said to often be a blue or yellow shade rather than green.
