For The Win Updated Dec. 4, 2025, 9:15 p.m. ET Surfline has live cameras positioned over surf breaks around the world and before dawn Thursday one camera captured footage that appears to show mysterious objects over Ventura, Ca. “Didn’t see that on the forecast,” Surfline, a forecasting business, stated via Instagram . The footage, also visible for members reviewing the camera’s feed , shows what appear to be two objects resembling flying saucers, and at one point the lights blend into a single shimmering object. The footage was captured beginning at 4:46 a.m., and as of late Thursday the source of the lights remained a mystery. But Surfline followers were quick to chime in with theories. “Probably searching for our swells,” one follower wrote, including an alien emoji. “[But] we already have crowded breaks.” “They are here for the super moon,” another top comment reads. Some followers implied that the footage was fake or contrived, perhaps prompting Surfline to post the link to the camera feed's rewind feature. One follower speculated that the source of the lights was a SpaceX satellite-launching mission from Vandenberg Space Force Base in Santa Barbara County. Whatever the source, the post generated plenty of interest. In the first two hours it garnered more than 16,000 views and inspired hundreds of comments.
