The caller said that he was forced to leave his lane of travel to avoid getting hit head-on by an oncoming white truck. A Missoula County Sheriff’s Office deputy was near Brooks and Reserve when the call was dispatched. Shortly after, the deputy observed a newer white Ford Raptor driving north, which was being followed by a passenger car. The driver of the passenger car had his window down and was pointing at the white pickup in front of him. The deputy turned his patrol vehicle around, and as he caught up to the pickup, his forward-facing radar had a reading of 46 mph in the 35 mph zone. The deputy also noticed that the passenger-side tires of the vehicle were completely on the shoulder of the lane.
