One service at ten to fifteen bucks a month is not bad. But if you add another and another and another, it all adds up quickly. And then if you forget to cancel those even though you planned on keeping one or all for just a month or two, your expenses start to escalate. But if you want your costs for streaming services to remain on the lower side, now is the time to keep your eyes open. We are approaching Black Friday/Cyber Monday season, and there will be some deals out there worth checking out. Last year, I picked up an annual subscription to Peacock for around $19.99, and I got Hulu and Disney+ for only three bucks a month combined (both were the base services with ads). I also got Paramount+ for somewhere around six bucks a month, though that was only a three-month deal. But for all of those, I definitely got my money’s worth and saved a fair amount from the regular subscription costs. Basically, you just need to keep your eye out for these deals, checking the websites of the services you are interested in subscribing to, or checking for Black Friday deals in your favorite search engine. You will have to start up a new account or restart a cancelled account, because they won’t usually let you apply this to an existing subscription. But I have been on the streaming service cycling for quite some time, so that is not a huge issue for me. Also note that typically these deals will be for the plans that include ads, but generally they will also give you the option to upgrade to the no-ad version for an upcharge. So far this year, I have only seen a few deals, so it looks like the streaming services are a little more stingy this holiday season. But I am keeping my eyes open, and I will be listing them below as I see them pop up. I will also be posting info on these on our Twitter , Mastodon , and BlueSky accounts. The best deal I have seen so far is Apple TV at $5.99 per month for their base plan (usually $12.99) for six months. That streamer has quite a number of sci fi and fantasy originals worth watching (you can see the rundown at this link ), so that is a good deal, and I will be signing up shortly. Another interesting one is Peacock or Paramount+ with Walmart+ membership at half off ($49). And it looks like you can switch between those services every 90 days. So if that Walmart+ membership is worth it to you, that’s a pretty good deal (info below). The streaming services are great sources of entertainment, but there is no reason to pay a ton of money each month when there are only so many hours in the day that you can spend watching. Now is definitely a good time to keep an eye out to see what deals are available to keep your costs down in the coming year. Current Deals: Apple TV at $5.99 per month.
