An excerpt of the fictional “ Pluribus ” book “Bloodsong of Wycaro,” the latest novel in Carol Sturka’s “Winds of Wycaro” romantasy series, is now available to read on Apple Books. (Apple TV produces and distributes Vince Gilligan’s new sci-fi drama.) Download the 11-page chapter here . In the first episode of “Pluribus,” Carol (played by Rhea Seehorn), reads an excerpt from “Bloodsong of Wycaro” during a book signing at a Barnes and Noble. Many of her fans confront her about why the series’ heartthrob Raban is not on the cover. These concerns are addressed in a “Letter From the Author,” in which Carol also writes about her love of the tale of Sisyphus. In “Pluribus,” Carol loathes her bestselling work (and the fans who lap up every page). As Lucasia navigates a treacherous storm, she is haunted by memories of Raban, the rogue who stole her heart before walking the plank. Seething with passions which cry for release, she soon learns the only thing worse than finding yourself alone in the dark… is discovering you’re not alone.” Sound familiar? “Pluribus” follows Carol after an Earth-shattering event known as “The Joining,” when all but 12 people on the planet are suddenly taken over by a mind virus that turns them into friendly, all-knowing entities that share one collective consciousness. Carol, who is described as “the most miserable person on Earth,” must fight for her individuality as the rest of the world tries to figure out how to “fix” her. Apple did a similar stunt earlier this year by releasing the self-help book from “Severance,” “The You You Are,” on Apple Books. The audiobook was narrated by actor Michael Chernus, who plays Ricken Hale in the workplace thriller. “Pluribus” debuted on Nov. 7, and the first three episodes are available to stream now on Apple TV. The show marks Gilligan’s first project after “Better Call Saul,” which ended in 2022. “I wouldn’t say there was pressure, but there was a certain level of expectation. A certain level of, ‘What’s next in the “Breaking Bad” world?’” Gilligan told Variety in an interview with Seehorn. “We live in a world of IP, where the safest thing to do is reboot something that has an audience. I wanted to prove to myself I wasn’t a one-trick pony,” Gilligan says. “It’s harder than it’s ever been to get something made that’s not based on a previous movie or comic book or video game. Every generation deserves its own stories, instead of just the stories of their grandparents.” Read More About: Jump to Comments More from Variety Source: https://variety.com/2025/tv/news/pluribus-book-wycaro-carol-sturka-how-to-read-1236582365/
