Tuesday, 21 October Tónlistarquiz, Röntgen, 20.00: What can be more compatible than drinks and a pub quiz, especially if the questions are all about music? At Röntgen, the event’s host Thomas Gunnar Thorsteinsson will test your knowledge of the popular (and not very) acts from near and far. Wednesday, 22 October Reykjavík Opera Days, Austurbæjarbíó, 20.30: As Reykjavík Opera Days, the city’s venues are abundant with productions in the genre. Directed by Louise Beck, LOL (Laughing Out Lonely) reflects on contemporary loneliness reinforced by the digital age technology. Thursday, 23 October Gugusar / Credit: Art Bicnick. KÍTÓNleikar, Íðno, 19.30: The night is run by KÍTÓN is a non-profit organization supporting the rights of women and transgender artists in Iceland. This is a great opportunity to see a bunch of local up-and-coming acts in one place. Featuring RAKEL, Lúpína, Gugusar and DJ Tatjana. Friday, 24 October Midnight Mass, Aðventkirkjan , 23.00: What’s your perfect Friday night? How about a choir concert at Aðventkirkjan? Here, Barbörukórinn will perform a Midnight Mass by Auður Guðjohnsen. The aim of this composition is to increase interest in Icelandic choral music by reaching a broader audience with a musical language that is both accessible and powerful. Saturday, 25 October Tom Waits – Tribute Concert, Salurinn, 20.30: Valdimar Guðmundsson, Björn Jörundur, Hildur Vala, and Sigurður Guðmundsson perform the immortal songs of Tom Waits. His music, infused with blues, jazz, and folk, reflects a fearless spirit of experimentation throughout his long career. Sunday, 26 October Bíótekið, 3 films on a Sunday, Bíó Paradís, 14.30: Three arthouse films, screened at Reykjavík’s most celebrated cinema, Hvað er í blýhólknum?, Alphaville, and Conflagration, resonate with the twilight shades of October.
