The force has disclosed reports made across Essex since 2015 as part of a Freedom of Information Act (FOI) response. One report detailed seeing "strobe lights" in Southend-on-Sea in 2024. The force decided these were "most likely from Adventure Island". Another report, made in Maldon, was about an object "maybe a parachute with something long dangling beneath it, floating across the sky in different directions". The reporting individual said it didn't look like an air balloon or anything similar. The informant said it "looked like a flare" and it was a "gold orangey colour". Here are some of the UFO reports to Essex Police from recent years An individual reported in 2015 seeing a "bright orange light" in the sky above Braintree that then "sped off". It was a "vertical shape aircraft" that was "very quick moving". In 2018 an individual reported seeing a "green fluorescent light like a comet coming from the sky" above the M25 in Essex. They saw two planes above it and a smaller plane too. A person in Basildon reported to Essex Police in 2019 seeing a UFO that looked like "two drones on fire". He could only describe it as "really fast streams of light" and similar to a flare. He struggled to explain it and said it appeared to be 'out of this world'. In 2020 an individual reported in Saffron Walden that they were driving when they saw "a flaming ball going through the sky". It was described as "quite low and approximately the size of a football with flames coming out the back of it". The following year a person in Chelmsford was leaving church at around 9:15pm when they noticed "five to six lights in the sky" that were "dancing around and two shot off and then parted and then disappeared". A report in 2022 at Stansted Airport details two planes having reported an object below them as they came into land. None of the pilots could see anything when they looked. The most recent report, in 2024, was in Southend-on-Sea when an individual reported seeing three "strange purple lights" flashing in the sky. It's detailed that these are "most likely from Adventure Island". The Mirror reports that people should follow a set of simple steps if they spot something peculiar in the skies. They should stay calm and observe carefully, document everything immediately, and seek out other witnesses. People should also report the sighting to the appropriate authorities. It's advised people avoid misinformation and stay updated too. Follow Essex Live Source: https://www.essexlive.news/news/essex-news/strange-police-reports-ufos-spotted-10629183.amp
