‘Spread’ creators reunite for new horror-sci-fi series ‘Malevolent’ Humanity vs. hell begins at Image Comics with ‘Malevolent’ out in January. By on October 27, 2025 The Spread creative team is back and bloodier than ever. Writer Justin Jordan, artist John Bivens, and colorist Felipe Sobreiro have reunited for Malevolent, a new ongoing horror–sci-fi series launching from Image Comics this January. Set thirty years after a scientific experiment cracked open the gates of Hell, Malevolent explores a world where humanity has adapted to life among demons—until a new weapon emerges that might end the nightmare… or wipe out what’s left of mankind. Sobreiro called it “the most excited I’ve been about a project in a while,” praising the story’s creative potential. Bivens added that his persistence in getting the team back together “finally paid off,” while Jordan teased that Malevolent is “pure mayhem and monsters,” promising the trio have somehow topped the chaos of Spread. Malevolent #1 hits comic shops January 28, 2026, with covers by Bivens, Jorge Corona, Zander Cannon, Jon Wayshak, and Ben Templesmith, and will also be available digitally via Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play.
