‘Enough Is Enough’: Lauren Boebert Says She’ll Find the Truth About UFOs By Amanda L, 1 hours ago Rep. Lauren Boebert is once again looking to the skies—and to her voters. As the Colorado Republican launches her bid for a fourth term in Congress, she’s promising to “pursue the truth about UFOs,” a line from her re-election email that quickly made its way across political news outlets and late-night commentary alike. Her message reads, “For decades, our government has shrouded the truth about UFOs in a veil of secrecy. Strange crafts have been spotted soaring through our skies, defying the laws of physics, and yet the bureaucrats in Washington act like we’re too naïve to handle the facts.” She continued, “They tell us we’re crazy, like we can’t see these things flying through the air with our own eyes. I say enough is enough. The American people aren’t children to be spoon-fed half-truths or dismissed with vague excuses.” To some, Boebert’s promise might sound like the latest in a long line of culture-war distractions. But to her campaign, the strategy is working. According to KDVR in Denver, Boebert’s team says the UFO pitch has been one of their most successful fundraising messages so far, energizing a base that already sees her as a truth-teller unafraid of government secrecy. Not everyone is convinced. “It’s almost a cry for help, to be honest,” said Democratic political analyst Andy Boian in an interview with KDVR. “She’d be better off focusing on reopening the federal government.” Congress remains in partial shutdown after Senate Democrats refused to advance a Republican funding bill without concessions on healthcare and social spending. “Outlandish messaging like this,” Boian added, “usually comes from candidates who are desperate—for money or for relevance.” At a November 2024 congressional hearing on the subject, she pressed witnesses on whether aliens had ever built “a secret underwater base.” Noting that “only 5% of the ocean has been studied by man,” she asked if there were reports of “UAPs emerging from or submerging into our water.” Michael Shellenberger, a journalist who has written extensively about alleged Pentagon retrieval programs, told her he had no evidence of an alien base but had “heard from a source” who described “an orb coming out of the ocean and being met by another orb.” That exchange, widely circulated online, underscored both Boebert’s curiosity and her flair for viral moments. The congresswoman—who has at times flirted with QAnon talking points—has made skepticism of the federal government a cornerstone of her identity. Her pivot toward extraterrestrial transparency fits neatly within that worldview: Washington is lying, the people deserve the truth, and only outsiders can expose it. Boebert’s political footing, however, is far less otherworldly. After nearly losing her 2022 race by 546 votes, she relocated to a safer Republican district to secure re-election in 2024. The UFO talk, then, may be less about disclosure and more about differentiation—a way to stand out in a crowded right-wing media ecosystem where attention, not legislation, is the currency of power. Whether voters share her cosmic curiosity remains to be seen. But as her campaign turns skyward, Lauren Boebert is betting that the road to re-election might just run through the stars.
